This is the complete NVDA package, and is the easiest way to make a computer speak.
WHAT IS NVDA?
NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) is a free “screen reader” which enables blind and vision impaired people to use computers. It reads the text on the screen in a computerised voice. You can control what is read to you by moving the cursor to the relevant area of text with a mouse or the arrows on your keyboard.
NVDA can also convert the text into braille if the computer user owns a device called a “braille display”.
NVDA provides the key to education and employment for many blind people. It also provides access to social networking, online shopping, banking and news.
NVDA works with Microsoft Windows. You can download it to your PC, or to a USB stick which you can use with any computer.
Normally screen readers are expensive, making them unaffordable for many blind people.
NVDA is free.
Download And Enjoy.
1st. extract NVDA ZIP File.
2nd. open this folder and press Enter on start.bat.
What will happen then is that the well-known Jaws voice, Eloquence, will be silently installed, so that you can use it with NVDA, which will play it’s itro tune. Tab once to accept the license, and you will have four choices; 1. Install NVDA on this computer, 2. Make a portable copy, 3. Continue using, or 4. Exit.
The second method is to burn all these files in the root folder of a CD. When you insert this CD into any computer which has sound, Eloquence will also be silently installed, and NVDA will start speaking to you, using Eloquence. Same as above, but may be easier?
