Installation of Windows 8.1 Using TWPE

In this post we learn, how to install windows 8.1 by using TWPE (Talking Windows Pre-Installation Environment). Genrally, we install windows from CD/DVD or Bootable USB without any speech feedback during installation. But we will use TWPE for speech feedback.
Actually, TWPE is prepared by configuring NVDA in WinPe (Windows Pre-installation Environment). WinPE is a minimal version of Windows. The Pre-installation Environment portion of the name is due to the typical purpose of WinPE: to serve as a minimal operating system for use by Windows installation/setup and recovery features. When load WinPe/TWPE, normal desktop come into view. It is just like running windows 7. In TWPE, NVDA provide us speech feedback. First we load TWPE then run windows setup. You can run it from HDD, USB or DVD.

System Requirements For Windows 8.1:
Before you upgrade to Windows 8.1, it’s important to make sure your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements. Below are the requirements that Microsoft has given:
1GHz (gigahertz) processor.
1GB (gigabyte) RAM (32-bit) or 2GB RAM (64-bit).
16GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20GB (64-bit).
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver.
A screen resolution of at least 1024×768 pixels.
Note that these are the minimum requirements. If you use your computer for gaming or other demanding apps, you may need a faster processor, more RAM, or a more powerful graphics card.

Required Tools:
Download TWPE: You can download it from our website. Open your internet browser and type following URL in address bar and hit enter.

Useful Applications


When page is loaded find required TWPE package and hit enter on it then perform further steps depending on yours pc settings. Following packages are available.
TWPE X86 USB (use it to burn TWPE on USB for 32 bit window)
TWPE X86 CD (use it to burn TWPE on CD for 32 bit window)
TWPE X64 USB (use it to burn TWPE on USB for 64 bit window)
TWPE X64 CD (use it to burn TWPE on CD for 64 bit window)
Getting Windows 8.1: You can perchase DVD of windows 8.1 from the market or download it from the above URL. You can also download it by searching on google.
Download Ultra Iso: You can download it from above URL. It is also required to mount iso images.

Burn TWPE ON USB:
If you want to boot from USB then choose any one of the USB packages according to your requirement. Then perform following steps.
Attached USB to your computer.
Press “Enter” on TWPE USB package to open it.
If user account screen appear then press “Alt Y” for yes. It depends on the security settings of your pc.
Now Novicorp Bootable USB Replicator Self Extracting Image will open and USB drive already selected.
Press “Tab” to move on burn button.
Press “Enter” to activate it.
Now burning process will start. It takes several minutes, please wait until it completed successfully. When it completed your bootable USB of TWPE will be ready.

Burn TWPE ON CD:
If you want to boot from CD then choose any one of the CD packages according to your requirement. Then perform following steps.
Insert blank CD into the cd/dvd writer device of your computer.
Press “Escape” if any dialog box appear.
Press “Enter” on TWPE CD package to open it.
If user account screen appear then press “Alt Y” for yes. It depends on the security settings of your pc.
Now BurnCDCC(TM) burn utility will open.
Press “Tab” to move on start button.
Press “Enter” to activate it.
Now burning process will start. It takes several minutes, please wait until it completed successfully. When it completed your bootable CD of TWPE will be ready.
Note:
If you haven’t cd/dvd drive in your system then you can install windows from USB or from HDD. You can coppy windows in a folder in bootable USB of TWPE or any other USB. If you have downloaded windows iso image on your HDD then you can also use it.

Installing Windows:
After preparing bootable device perform following steps to install windows.

Boot Your Pc:
After making bootable TWPE USB/CD perform following steps to boot your pc.
Boot From USB: power off the computer.
Attach USB to computer.
Press power button to turn on the computer.
Now press boot menu key again and again for 10 or 20 seconds. When boot menu appeared choose USB boot device with arrow keys and press “Enter”. After some time TWPE will load and NVDA start automatically.
Boot From CD: Insert TWPE CD in CD/DVD drive.
Shutdown the computer completely.
Turn on the computer.
Now press boot menu key again and again for 10 or 20 seconds. When boot menu appeared choose CD boot device with arrow keys and press “Enter”. After some time TWPE will load and NVDA start
Note: boot menu keys in different computers are (F12, F9, F10, F8, Escape).
Launching Windows Setup: After loading Win Pee open computer from the desktop then choose your drive where windows folder stored.
e.g. 1. having window on USB, you move on it by pressing arrow keys or the first letter of its name and open it. Now move on windows folder and open it. Hit enter on setup.exe file to launch setup.
e.g. 2. Having window on local disk drive, move on required drive and open it, then move on windows folder and open it. Hit enter on setup.exe file to launch setup.
e.g. 3. Having DVD, move on dvd drive, open it, then hit enter on setup.exe file
e.g. 4. having iso image on HDD or USB, If you have iso image of windows then no need to extract it.
After loading WinPee install Ultra Iso.
Press “Applications Key” then move on ultra iso and hit enter. Hit enter again on mount.
Now open newly created partition in computer titled windows 8.
Hit enter on setup to launch it.

As you enter on setup file the setup will start loading. When it loads a screen appears with the options of set language and keyboard settings. No need to change any thing.
Press “Enter” to next.
Now next screen comes having focus on install button.
Press “Enter” on it.
Now lysence agreeement will appear on next screen having focus on I Accept checkbox.
Press “Spacebar” to check it.
Press “Enter” to next.
Now installation type screen will appear.
Press “Down Arrow” to select custom button.
Press “Enter” to activate it.
Now (where do you want to install windows) screen will come up. In this screen all partitions ofHDD listed having focus on C: Drive. If you want to install on other drive then select it with arrow keys otherwise no need to change.
Press “Alt A” to open advance menu.
Press “Alt F” to format selected drive.
Press “Tab” to move on ok button.
Press “Enter” on it. Formatting will start. When it finished, focused back on C drive.
Press “Alt N” to begin setup. NVDA will provide speech feedback during instllation.
When setup is completed, system will restart first time then it perform some configurations automatically and after few minutes it will restart again.
Now (personalize computer settings) screen will appear.
Here NVDA do not provide speech feedback.
Press “Windows Enter” to launch Narrator.
When it loaded press “Alt Tab” to move on settings screen.
Type here PC name in the field of pc name.
Press “enter” to next.
Press “Enter” on recommended button.
If you have any internet connection (wifi/cable) then on next screen asking you to choose network connection. If you want to connect then choose connection and hit enter on connect button, and then type security key if required, hit enter again. If don’t want? Then move on skip button with “tab” and hit “enter”.
Now it will asking you to login with Microsoft account. If you have then type email address and password then hit “enter” on next button.
Now it will ask you to verify your account via text message on your number, follow the instructions to complete it successfully. After this your PC is ready for use.
If you don’t have Microsoft account then you can create new one from here. If you don’t want to login with Microsoft account then move on skip button with “tab” and hit “Enter”.
If you skip above screen then you will asked to enter user name for your local account.
Type username of pc.
If you want to add password then move with “tab” and fillout the information. If you don’t want to add password then press “Enter” to next.
Now wait while getting your pc ready. After few minutes start screen will appear.
Now you have successfully installed windows 8.1.
Install device drivers if required.
Note: some pcs auto boot when any bootable device connected, in this case you must remove bootable USB after first restart during installation.
