- important functions in excel:
- sum formula is written as follows:
- =sum(range)
- Range means cell with data. Example, if you have data a1 to a12 then range is a1:a12.
- Max: finding maximum value
- =max(range)
- Min: finding minimum value.
- =min(range)
- Average:
- =average(range)
- Percentage:
- Obtain marks/total marks*100
- example: =c9/b9*100
- If: for logical purposes like allotting grades to students on the basis of percentage/total =if(condition, “option 1”, “option 2”) For example: =if(b11>33, “pass”, “fail”)
- if the number of options is more than two then two or more if arguments are used in the same formula.
- =if(condition 1, “option 1”, if(condition 2, “option 2”, if(condition 3, “ option 3”, “option 4”)))
- inserting current date and time:
- =now()
- Murge cells:
- select the cells:
- press ctrl 1, for formatting dialog box.
- ctrl tab, for alignment page.
- alt h, for horizontal. choose center with arrow keys.
- press alt m, for murge check box.
- press enter.
- Note: you can change the size, style and font of data in excel for that open the formatting dialog box. move to font page. use tab and move through controls change the options with arrow keys and press enter when you done all the changes.
- Add a sheet:
- press shift f11, for add new sheet.
- delete a sheet:
- press alt e and l, for delete current sheet.
- copy or move the sheet:
- press alt v and m, for dialog box.
- choosse the position with arrow keys and press enter.
- auto fit:
- alt o and c and a, for columns.
- alt o and r and a, for rows.
- add column and row:
- move on that column or row where you want to add one.
- alt i and c, for column.
- alt i and r, for row.
